It can be frustrating if your storage unit auction bid is declined, and you cannot bid or buy storage units on StorageTreasures, but there is likely a good reason.
Valid Form of Payment
The most common reason your bid is declined is due to your form of payment. You must have a valid credit card on file and have sufficient funds in your credit card account before you can bid on a storage unit auction on StorageTreasures or buy a storage unit when the auction ends. The credit card is for payment of our auction fees when you win a storage auction. If you do not have a credit card on file you can browse local storage auctions, but you will not be able to bid on a storage auction.
Address Verification Service Mismatch
The next reason a bid can be declined in a storage unit auction is an Address Verification Service (AVS), mismatch error. An ‘AVS mismatch’ occurs when the billing address StorageTreasures has on file does not match the billing address that you have on the account with your credit card company or card-issuing bank. The AVS is used to protect you against credit card fraud. StorageTreasures has been using AVS since July 6, 2022. When entering a credit card, the credit card information must match the billing information, or the card will be declined. Registered buyers, if you have not updated your credit card information since July 6, 2022, you should log in to your account to make sure your card information matches our billing information, or you will not be able to buy storage locker auctions on StorageTreasures. StorageTreasures does not control this error. If you have an issue, and you believe that it’s wrong you must contact your financial institution.
Incorrect Information
Other reasons a credit card may be declined includes incorrectly entering information. It is easy to incorrectly enter a digit of your credit card number, the expiration date, or the security code. Double-check your card information to ensure it is correct.
